This weekends key player, in my opinion, as started this week in fine fashion and will hope to continue that form into this weekends fixtures, although his not even playing this weekend…As he’ll most likely star on Friday!
Mbaye Leye has been in startling form in the Pro League in 2017 and has been key vs Kortrijk and definitely against Mouscron on Tuesday. Two goals in two matches has aided Zulte-Waregem keep up with the favourites Club Brugge and Anderlecht and will be needed in a very tough tie on paper away to Sporting Charleroi who recorded an impressive win away at an extremely foggy Oostende.
The old man though is coming into the year rejuvenated and with his 8 goals in the league this season, pitching in with an assist now and then too, in an attacking sense, his definitely showing his worth to the team still, and hopefully he’ll use his experience to help guide his teammates too.
Now in his 10th year in Belgium, the Senegalese striker will definitely feel like his at home, especially with Zulte-Waregem as his in his 3rd stint at the club which may end up being his last club and will certainly hope to end it with a bang when he finally decided to hang up his boots, and steering the side to a title will almost be unimaginable but unbelievable. I’m certain even Champions League will seem unreal to the fans of a club even I’m older than in their current formation.
Charleroi shared the spoils with Zulte last time out and in recent years, have also had the better record, but within Mbaye Leye and his teammates, with their determination and spirit this season, I’m sure another freezing cold night will be red hot on the pitch once the referee blows his whistle. Hopefully I’m being optimistic but this week certainly hasn’t disappointed and with my last prediction of the potential player of the week, for Leye’s sake, I hope it also continues!
