I tend to usually do one player profile a week but for the Croky Cup, I’ve decided to do one for Zulte Waregem and one for KV Oostende.
This PP will focus on Belgian born Turkish midfielder Onur Kaya. The midfield playmaker has proved to be vital in an attacking sense for Zulte, adequately playing anywhere across the front line, but predominantly on the left wing.
Ever present this term too, he has featured in every league match, assisting 9 goals and chipping in with 3 himself. He may feel he could do better personally on the goal front as an attacking player, but when you have Mbaye Leye as one of the leagues top scorers you just need to make sure they’re on a plate for him to finish.
In the Beker Van Belgie he has played in 3 of the fixtures, except for St Truiden and the semi final second leg win against Eupen. Now into his second season at Zulte, he looks to be at home, not only because he is Belgian, but he started his career in Holland, so coming back and continuing your career at home, i can only see him moving to Turkey if anywhere.
The reason I have picked Kaya is because I have already written about Mbaye Leye, but also because himself probably on the left could prove to be the difference in the attacking third on Saturday. All i know is that this should be an intriguing Cup Final.
